I did not always have that growing up. My early years in foster care taught me resilience and adaptability, but they also showed me how deeply our environment shapes the way we feel. Later, serving in the military reinforced the values of discipline, service, and leadership, along with the responsibility we have to show up for others.

When I started MAK Modern, I was not simply thinking about furniture. I was thinking about how people live, how they connect, and how a space can quietly support those moments. I wanted to create pieces that feel intentional, honest, and human. Furniture that brings calm, comfort, and connection into everyday life.

Like Fernando, I understand how deeply environment shapes the way we feel. I also grew up in foster care. Stability was not always guaranteed, and I learned early how important structure, safety, and consistency truly are. Those experiences shaped the way I lead with responsibility, clarity, and long-term thinking.

Before joining MAK Modern, I served as a public school administrator, managing complex budgets and stewarding resources entrusted to me by families and communities. I continue to serve on nonprofit boards as an advocate and treasurer, roles that require accountability, transparency, and disciplined decision-making.

When I became Co-Founder and CFO of MAK Modern, I saw more than a design brand. I saw an opportunity to help build something sustainable, a company grounded in integrity and thoughtful growth. My responsibility is to ensure that every vision is supported by strong systems, financial stewardship, and operational excellence.

To me, MAK Modern represents both heart and structure. It is about creating spaces that feel safe and meaningful, while building a business that is steady, principled, and built to last.
